Schedule: Full time. 8hrs+ daily. Available between 9am – 7pm on weekdays and after hours/weekends, as needed. Some Holidays required.

Compensation:  Up to 200K for the right person with the right experience — VERY HANDS ON ROLE, NOT A DESK JOB

Location: Will need to travel to Calabasas area each day. No remote work. Occasional travel to Palm Desert and Santa Barbara.

In search of a true House/Estate Manager with at least 8 years of directly applicable House/Estate Manager experience in a large-scale home/property. This candidate needs to already possess a firm grasp of the ins and outs of running a property. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running with a checklist of property maintenance items and a rolodex of vendors. Candidates should exude confidence and possess prior experience in such scenarios. Our ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail and organization and understands how to offer 5-star service to the principal and their guests on the property. MUST have experience with heavy construction and renovation management, and capable of managing multiple properties.

A proven track record of trustworthy and discreet operations is a prerequisite. High organizational skills are crucial, with a strong aversion to mess. Emphasizing a team player mentality, the candidate should be hands-on, steering clear of a desk-work only approach. Flexibility is essential, including oversight on special occasions and major holidays. Understanding the nuances of working for a person at this level is vital. For the property in Palm Desert, there is a property manager, but the House/Estate Manager must manage personal aspects and preferences the property manager might not know. At the Santa Barbara, property where there’s only a housekeeper, the candidate should ensure essential tasks like grocery lists and stocking are attended to. Regular visits and meetings, approximately every six weeks, are expected to keep everything in order.

House Manager Must Be Able To:

  • Conduct regular walk-throughs of the home and grounds and daily checklists
  • Visit and oversee two additional vacation homes as needed, keeping them stocked and maintained
  • Oversee and manage household staff including Security team, housekeepers, etc.
  • Schedule, supervise, and upkeep maintenance schedules for household vendors: HVAC, electrician, plumbing, generator, well systems, etc.
  • Supervise construction and renovation projects, from design to coordination of schedules and daily oversight of subcontractors when needed.
  • Maintain and update household manuals, menus, guest guide books, inventories, etc.
  • Develop shopping lists for all household requirements (cleaning, maintenance, food, liquor, etc).
  • Order and maintain household supply inventories: cleaning supplies, beverages, and snacks, etc.
  • Assist with gifting, keep track of birthdays for both staff and family/friends
  • Maintain seasonal routines and procedures for the household interior and exterior needs: landscaping, window washing, power washing, etc.
  • Manage the grounds, including landscaping, and pool
  • Ensure that all appliances are fully functioning at all times
  • Identify and schedule repairs
  • Screen and oversee vendors
  • Compare multiple bids and estimates
  • Supervise work and review invoices (ensure invoices match up with the work performed)
    Maintain storage unit and closet organization. In some cases, develop newb organizational systems
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for trips. Keep track of all items coming and going
  • Coordinate onsite activities and provide day-to-day direction of onsite staff (housekeepers, etc)
  • Car maintenance and washing schedules
  • Handle and care for fine furniture and collectibles.
  • Provide occasional assistance with travel and lodging plans
  • Oversee all holidays, events, and dinner parties, orchestrating staff accordingly.
  • Greet guests and provide formal (but comfortable) service during visit.
* Experience/Qualifications Required: 4-Year College Degree. At least 8 years of directly applicable experience as a house manager/estate manager/hospitality concierge required.
